Skyfall: A review

Fifty years down the line, one cannot expect a new entry into the half-a-century long franchise to release without sky high expectations and/or hype. Especially when big names like Sam Mendes and Roger Deakins, along with Daniel Craig, Dame Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem are attached to the project. But does hype decide the quality of the movie? No. Overhyped films have certainly failed to deliver the goods. So how does Skyfall, the 23rd entry into the James Bond franchise, stack up, both to its predecessors and the hype? That’s not an easy question to answer.

A Done Deal

Worse kept secret? Certainly. Now we have the User Manual on LG's website itself. It seems Google and friends have given up trying to hide secrets.

Take a look here.

Nexus 10 User Manual Leaked

We might not have to tablet yet but we do have a Quick Start Guide.
Korean gadget site Seeko has put up what seems to be the User Manual of a 10-inch Samsung Nexus tablet. We could very well see this device on Google's upcoming Android event.

Carphone Warehouse Confirms LG Nexus 4

British retailer Carphone Warehouse draws the curtain on the rumoured LG Nexus 4. According to the site the device will sport a 4.7-inch 1,280 x 768 display, Snapdragon S4 processor and 8-megapixel camera, 2GB RAM and a mere 8GB onboard storage. Oh and it runs on Android 4.2!

Ships on October 30th.

PS. I have slight doubts on Carphone Warehouse.

Nexus 10

While Apple is going around making things smaller, Google is busy making things bigger. Along with the 5 odd Nexus phones Google is also set to unveil a 10-inch Nexus tablet. Oh and there's the small matter of the superb 2560×1600 pixel resolution this device is believed to have.

Key Lime Pie

Rising above all ICS-not-adopted-at-all-jokes, Google is poised to release Android 4.2 at next week's event. Codenamed Key Lime Pie, 4.2 is expected to carry the Ice Cream Sandwich branding along with a widget that allows customers to access Play store content more easily as well as a panoramic mode for the camera that will support both vertical and horizontal scans and some serious security improvements.

Google announces Android event

Google has sent out invitations for an October 29th Android event which will take place at New York City.

Multiple Nexus devices are expected to be unveiled at this event. Oh and to our joy the event will be live-streamed here.

Nexus Rumour Round-Up

This year, we'll probably get to see more than one Nexus device. What? How? Really? For answers to intelligent questions such as these read along...

Owing primarily to the beautiful extended trailer we saw a couple of months ago, and due to the fact that it just premiered at the Toronto International Film festival recently. The TIFF premiere was met with mixed reviews ranging from ecstatic praise lauding it to be one of the greatest works of art in the 21st century to  “Meh...”  So, you either get this Cloud Atlas or you don’t.

BOOK REVIEW: The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie

A Game Of Thrones, the TV show is out, and is the talk of the town, and, of the Internet as well (judging by all the Ned Stark memes that are floating around). People are finally catching on to why I was pimping out the series of books written by George RR Martin a few years before the TV show came out. Game of Thrones was game changing and introduced to the world an edgier, grittier form of writing Epic Fantasy (and Sci-Fi). This ushered in a new age of Fantasy books which were meant for adults, with all their fantastical elements grounded in a Human reality. Joe Abercrombie is a part of this new wave of epic fantasy with his debut The Blade Itself, released on May 2006.
